Ahilya by the Sea is an intimate boutique property that lies far away from the maddening crowds of Goa, featuring just nine rooms. We offer luxury and a chance for people to break away from their busy lives in a sea-view villa surrounded by tropical gardens. Built in Portuguese colonial style, the estate was a family home that’s now run by the Ahilya hotel brand. We’ve kept the original décor which includes antiques and art work collected by the owners on their world travels; each room is named after a painting by Antonio Xavier, who was regarded as the Rembrandt of the east and lived in Goa.
We’re tucked away on the south of Coco Beach, a quiet stretch of sand where local fishermen work. You can see the beach from the two pools, one of which is a magnificent sunrise infinity pool. Our sea views are what really set us apart – you can hear the waves while you’re lying in bed, it’s very soothing. Once guests have enjoyed the initial excitement of exploring Goa, we find they usually want to stay put at the villa and lounge by the pools. The property has the feel of a lavish family home; there’s even a Banyan Spa where you can enjoy a massage and traditional therapies.
Ahilya is known for its excellent cuisine and we serve Goan favourites, as well as the fresh catch of the day and Italian and French dishes. You can dine in a different location each evening, perhaps at a private table on the beach or beneath a banyan tree surrounded by romantic oil lamps. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional service and experiences, from arranging Portuguese fado performances in the garden to holding events led by famous chefs or organising yoga sessions. Guests usually say their highlight is our smiling staff, food and those signature sea views.
