Dine under the stars at Elephant Bedroom Camp

Relax, savour your food and take in the sights and sounds of Samburu after dark as the stars glitter above….

By Carmen Gomez
Elephant Bedroom Camp Manager

Dine under the stars at Elephant Bedroom Camp, an intimate tented camp in Samburu National Game Reserve. Set by the Ewaso Nyiro River, elephants wander in and out of camp freely and feel so comfortable and safe that they often come here to sleep, hence the name Elephant Bedroom Camp. One of the highlights of staying with us is the evening dining experience, where you can feast beneath a clear sky filled with stars.

Dinner is a three-course, à la carte affair served on our deck, where tables are set out with white tablecloths and candles. After a soup starter, choose from meat or vegetarian mains and an indulgent dessert like a tiramisu. Since we’re in a secluded area, there’s no light-pollution and on a clear night, the sky is full of constellations. There’s plenty of time to relax, savour your food and take in the sights and sounds of Samburu after dark as the stars glitter above.

Your journey will start with one of our UK team – someone like Annette, who's travelled extensively in Kenya. They’ll shape your ideas into the trip of a lifetime. But they won't do it alone. They'll draw on the expertise of our contacts on the ground, connecting you to the people who'll make your holiday one you'll always remember - the rangers who'll ensure you'll spot the best wildlife in the Mara, the village chiefs who'll give you a genuine insight into local life and the camp managers who can recommend the very best spot for your sundowner.
