Dine with a Kilimanjaro view at Tawi Lodge

Take in views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, while you dine at Tawi Lodge…

By Daniel Heatly
Senior Product Executive for Alfred&

Take in views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, while you dine at Tawi Lodge. The property lies in the foothills of the mountain, on a conservancy bordering Amboseli National Park. This side is known as the rain shadow of Kilimanjaro, so you usually get clear views of the famous peak. There’s a great dining spot on the grounds overlooking the watering hole, where elephants and other animals gather. The meals at Tawi Lodge are high-end too, made from organic produce grown in the on-site gardens.

You can even opt for a bush meal while you’re out on a game drive in the 3,000-acre conservancy. There will be a cooler of drinks and a full bush kitchen complete with a private chef and table set up. The advantage of being on a private conservancy is that you’re allowed to dine in the bush and it’s much more peaceful, without the crowds in the National Park. It’s magical to just sit in camp chairs and enjoy a cold drink accompanied by Kilimanjaro views.

Alfred & Daniel Heatly

Upon leaving university, Daniel blindly placed a pin into a map (we kid you not!) to select South Africa as the first destination he ever travelled to. This was the beginning of a 23 year love affair with African travel. Subsequent adventures have taken him to Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Zambia, meeting new people and discovering new experiences along the way.

Plan your holiday withAlfred&

Your journey will start with one of our UK team – someone like Becky, who's travelled extensively in Kenya. They’ll shape your ideas into the trip of a lifetime. But they won't do it alone. They'll draw on the expertise of our contacts on the ground, connecting you to the people who'll make your holiday one you'll always remember - the safari rangers, local village chiefs and camp managers you'll be talking about for years to come. Start planning today, call us, email an enquiry or arrange a phone or video appointment for ideas and advice.
