You can’t visit Hoi An without tasting its legendary food and on this bike tour, you’ll get to try traditional and modern Vietnamese dishes. The trip is unique because we cycle through the ancient town into the countryside in a very small group, with a maximum of eight people, so you really discover Hoi An’s food secrets and have a personal experience.
You’ll get to taste the locals’ favourite dishes, including Vietnam’s famous Banh Mi sandwich, made with fluffy French bread and packed with meat and salad. I’ll also take you to a restaurant that serves the best Banh Xeo in Hoi An, which is a crispy rice pancake. We’ll sample new products loved by the younger generation too, such as Vietnamese craft beer and many types of cheese.
The afternoon bike ride through the paddy fields is a tour highlight, where we stop at a vegetable plantation to learn how farmers work. You’ll also visit a local house in Tra Que, where a lady will let you pick fresh herbs, which she uses to make her homecooked Cao Lau. In my opinion, it’s the best version of this famous noodle dish in all of Hoi An.
Back in the ancient town, you can enjoy one of the most popular BBQ seafood restaurants by the river, which has night-time views of the historic quarter. Guests love to see the local people eating and drinking together and learn about Hoi An’s food culture. We end the tour with a quiet stop at a café for strong Vietnamese coffee.
