Explore the nocturnal wonders of Lake Naivasha from Loldia House

Join one of our night-time game drives and discover the nocturnal wildlife around Lake Naivasha…

By Keith Mwenesi
Assistant Manager, Loldia House

Leopard spotting on the Loldia House night safariJoin one of our night-time game drives and discover the nocturnal wildlife around Lake Naivasha, from leopards to aardvarks. After dinner at Loldia House, one of our expert safari guides will take you out in a safari jeep for around an hour. You’ll drive all over our 6,500-acre ranch, set on the shores of Lake Naivasha, searching for wildlife like bat-eared foxes, long-tailed mongoose and birds such as the nightjar and eagle owl.

Along the way, you’re very likely to see the Lake’s resident hippos emerging from the water to graze on our lawns, joined by other plains game. If you’re lucky, you might also spot leopards, who are very shy but can be seen out hunting at night around the property. Your guide will look out for difficult-to-spot species like the aardvark, which is the icing on the cake – locals believe that spotting one means you’ll have a long, happy life.

Your journey will start with one of our UK team – someone like Annette, who's travelled extensively in Kenya. They’ll shape your ideas into the trip of a lifetime. But they won't do it alone. They'll draw on the expertise of our contacts on the ground, connecting you to the people who'll make your holiday one you'll always remember - the rangers who'll ensure you'll spot the best wildlife in the Mara, the village chiefs who'll give you a genuine insight into local life and the camp managers who can recommend the very best spot for your sundowner.
