Things to do in China

Exploring the Yangtze River in style

There really is no better way to explore the Yangtze River than from a boat, surrounded by the magnificent gorges above…

Xiaolin Zhang
Managing Director at Asian Trails, Alfred&'s partners in China

There really is no better way to explore the Yangtze River than from a boat, surrounded by the magnificent gorges above. It enables you to collect those panoramic views at every waking moment, and travel deeper into the region. We work with the only luxury cruise ship on the river, managed by a sustainable company intent on building long lasting relationships with the rural communities in the area.

For you this means beautiful furnishings, private balconies, 24-hour room service, the most indulgent spa on the Yangtze and the highest crew to passenger ratio of 1:1. But it also means intimate visits to local markets to meet farmers and learning about the rural culture along the Three Gorges. It’s fascinating to see satellite dishes on the side of mud hut homes in the traditional tracker’s villages, who still pride their heritage. If you’re lucky you’ll find a coffin in their bedroom and cuts of meat hanging on hooks from the kitchen. It’s not something you’ll forget!

This is by far the most intimate and luxurious cruise on offer and the only way to truly immerse yourself in this area of outstanding natural beauty.
