Come to Loisaba Tented Camp for a luxury safari experience surrounded by Laikipia’s striking landscape and wildlife. Set on the edge of a towering escarpment, we enjoy magnificent views over a valley stretching all the way to the snow-topped peak of Mount Kenya. One of the best places to take in the view is from our infinity pool, where guests love to relax after game drives in Loisaba Conservancy, which is home to a host of classic African wildlife.
We designed Loisaba Tented Camp in contemporary safari style, with 12 large canvas tents that boast floor-to-ceiling doors and windows, plus a large deck to make the most of the wild views. Expect chic Africana décor with a European twist, including polished wooden floors and solar rainfall showers – the camp has a Gold Eco Tourism Kenya rating. We also have an open dining area and lounge-bar that’s perfect for just sitting back with a drink and appreciating the scenery.
On game drives in the conservancy you’ll likely see big cats, giraffes, elephants and rhinos – you might even spot our rare black leopard. The conservancy is also home to some endangered animals unique to the Laikipia region, such as the Grevy’s Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe and wild dogs, who are on the brink of extinction. Run by The Nature Conservancy in partnership with the Space for Elephants Foundation, Loisaba is a real conservation success story. We’ve managed to strike a balance between tourism, the local community and wildlife protection.

Highlights of their stay include walking safaris, cultural visits to a Samburu village and going behind the scenes at Loisaba’s anti-poaching unit, where you can meet our friendly bloodhounds. Then there’s camel trekking – a typical form of transport for the Samburu – and horse riding or mountain biking. At the end of an afternoon game drive, you’ll have the chance to enjoy sundowners from a hilltop viewpoint or by a natural spring, which is a beautiful end to the day.
