Lagen Island: the resort surrounded by a forest sanctuary

El Nido Resorts Lagen Island

Our beautiful Lagen Island resort is set among a forest sanctuary home to exotic birdlife. The island is one of the largest in the remote Bacuit archipelago, which is famous for its protected waters filled with colourful marine life. You’ll be surrounded by steep limestone mountains and thick forest on one side and a calm lagoon on the other, which is lined with stilted water cottages.

The resort blends an eco-friendly design using recycled timber and products from the Sibaltan Women Weavers with modern luxuries like a spa, restaurant and pool. Unique features include our sanctified oratory chapel in the forest for intimate weddings and the suhai lounge, where environmental officers will tell you all about our eco-friendly island activities. Guests say they love the serenity of the resort, in particular its quiet nooks that are perfect for romantic dinners or even popping the question.

I recommend joining our morning bird-watching activity and guided forest hike, which leads to an isolated sandy cove perfect for snorkelling. Our guide will help you spot some of Lagen’s endemic birds, including kingfishers and hornbills. We also run island-hopping trips to the Big Lagoon and Cudugnon Cave, so there’s plenty to do when you’re not relaxing on the beach or by the pool. You can dine at our Clubhouse restaurant which serves a sustainable, farm-to-table menu of Filipino-international cuisine with all of our seafood sourced locally from Palawan.

We believe sustainability is very important, so we’ve implemented a single-use plastic ban and installed a desalination plant to ensure we’re not competing with local communities for water. Most of our staff are from the local Bebeladan and Kiminawit communities so, every month, we provide environmental education for them, especially the kids. We believe education is key towards fostering respect for El Nido and Taytay’s natural environment.

Plan your holiday withAlfred&

Your journey will start with one of our UK team – someone like Suzanne, who's travelled extensively in The Philippines. They’ll shape your ideas into the trip of a lifetime. But they won't do it alone. They'll draw on the expertise of our contacts on the ground, connecting you to the people who'll make your holiday one you'll always remember – the free diver who can take you swimming with turtles, the guides who can take you to secret lagoons and hidden beaches, and the locals who can school you in the art of nipa weaving.
