The highlight of Luang Say Lodge is its views over the Mekong River and forest-covered mountains of northern Laos. Backed by jungle, the raised lodge is built in typical Laotian style from solid teak and rosewood on four hectares of land. We made sure that each of the 20 bungalows have large windows so you can enjoy waking up to panoramic views of the mighty Mekong.
Guests mostly stay at the lodge in Pakbeng as part of our Luang Say Cruise from Huay Xai to Luang Prabang. Along the way, passengers enjoy a glimpse of river life as they sail along the Mekong and stop at ethnic Kamu villages and a sacred Buddha Cave. We arrive at the lodge in late afternoon, so there’s time to relax in your private bungalow which comes with mosquito net, fan and a bathroom with hot water and a western-style toilet.
Follow the wooden walkway through jungle and exotic gardens to our riverbank restaurant, which has tables overlooking the river. Guests love to relax here with a drink and soak up the views at sunset; there’s no pollution, it’s just quiet and peaceful. We serve a buffet of Laos food and a continental breakfast featuring our own home-grown organic produce. When it’s not rainy season, you’ll also get the chance to watch traditional music and dance performances from Kamu villagers after dinner.
