Most people come to AfroChic at the end of their Kenyan safari to simply chill out and lounge by our beach-front pool overlooking the ocean…
AfroChic is a small, boutique hotel set on the famous white sands of Diani Beach. The property used to be a family home, which we’ve refurbished in contemporary African Swahili style. The roof is supported by mangrove poles, a traditional architecture technique, and each of the ten suites is individually decorated, incorporating beautiful African artwork and fabrics. Each suite boasts a private balcony with loungers where you can relax and if you’re in an upper level room, there are views of the sparkling Indian Ocean.
Most people come to AfroChic at the end of their Kenyan safari to simply chill out and lounge by our beach-front pool. For ultimate relaxation, we also offer in-room spa sessions that specialise in African healing treatments with coconut oil. The dining experience at AfroChic is also a highlight; we’re very proud of our amazing chef team who are fantastic at highlighting the fresh seafood on offer. You can choose to dine by lantern-light in the garden, in our dining room or under a beach gazebo and there are no fixed meal times, just let us know when you want to eat.
If you’re feeling more active, we can organise trips to historic Mombasa, which is just down the coast, and a nearby colobus monkey sanctuary. The most popular experiences though, revolve around the ocean and include traditional dhow sail boat cruises, diving with the local PADI centre and whale and dolphin watching trips. We often send guests for a day trip to Wasini Island in the surrounding Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park, where they can swim and snorkel in the glass-clear waters.
AfroChic really stands out from the larger resorts on the Diani coastline because it has an intimate feel, perfect for people who want a low-key, peaceful stay. Guests love our small, close-knit team and enjoy the personal service rather than being part of a big resort machine. Then there’s the view of the ocean, which you can enjoy from a lounger on the beach, shaded by coconut palms – it’s just postcard-perfect.
Your journey will start with one of our UK team – someone like Annette, who's travelled extensively in Kenya. They’ll shape your ideas into the trip of a lifetime. But they won't do it alone. They'll draw on the expertise of our contacts on the ground, connecting you to the people who'll make your holiday one you'll always remember - the rangers who'll ensure you'll spot the best wildlife in the Mara, the village chiefs who'll give you a genuine insight into local life and the camp managers who can recommend the very best spot for your sundowner.
