Stargazing in Tsavo

On a clear night, the sky is like a tapestry, you can see everything from magical constellations to the Milky Way…

By Lakshmi Moolraj
Chief Operating Officer at Finch Hattons

Head to the stargazing deck at Finch Hattons to experience the spectacular Tsavo night sky. We’re the only camp for miles so when you switch off the lights, you feel like you’re alone in the middle of the wilderness. With no light pollution, on a clear night the sky is like a tapestry, you can see everything from magical constellations to the Milky Way. It’s just stars and stars as far as the eye can see.

In addition to the stargazing deck, our luxury safari tents have outdoor showers. Personally, I think there’s nothing better than getting into the shower in the evening with the stars looking down on you, accompanied by the sound of animal calls from our natural springs. I particularly love spotting shooting stars – it’s an experience that will stay with you long after you leave Kenya.

Your journey will start with one of our UK team – someone like Annette, who's travelled extensively in Kenya. They’ll shape your ideas into the trip of a lifetime. But they won't do it alone. They'll draw on the expertise of our contacts on the ground, connecting you to the people who'll make your holiday one you'll always remember - the rangers who'll ensure you'll spot the best wildlife in the Mara, the village chiefs who'll give you a genuine insight into local life and the camp managers who can recommend the very best spot for your sundowner.
