Explore Olare Motorogi Conservancy, which borders the Maasai Mara and is full of iconic African wildlife. The 33,000-acre conservancy is particularly well-known for its high density of lions, leopards and cheetahs, who you’ll spot near Porini Lion Camp and on game drives. Being in a conservancy means we’re allowed to head out after dark to watch big cats hunting and see other nocturnal wildlife like bush babies and aardvarks.

Experience game drives with our expert guides, many are from the local Maasai community and have been with us since the camp started 16 years ago. They know the names of the area’s big cats and have followed many of them since they were cubs. For instance, Fig, who must be the world’s most famous leopard, was actually born in Porini Lion Camp eleven years ago and returned to have her cubs here. She’s known for her beautiful eyes and is the star of National Geographic’s Jade Eyed Leopard show.

Being on private land also means you can take a bush walk with one of our Maasai guides. This gives you a unique, on-the-ground perspective of the wildlife and landscape. Along the way, your guide will teach you about the plants used by the community for medicine, pick you a Maasai toothbrush and even challenge you to a traditional spear-throwing contest. You’ll also get to identify animal tracks and spot wildlife on foot, with the safety of security on hand.

Although the big cats are a highlight in Olare Motorogi, there’s also a chance to see the rest of the Big Five on a game drive and all kinds of African wildlife, from wildebeest to giraffe and elephants. At the end of the day, enjoy spectacular sundowners looking over the plains and retreat to your luxury safari tent at Porini Lion Camp, in the heart of the conservancy.

Your journey will start with one of our UK team – someone like Annette, who's travelled extensively in Kenya. They’ll shape your ideas into the trip of a lifetime. But they won't do it alone. They'll draw on the expertise of our contacts on the ground, connecting you to the people who'll make your holiday one you'll always remember - the rangers who'll ensure you'll spot the best wildlife in the Mara, the village chiefs who'll give you a genuine insight into local life and the camp managers who can recommend the very best spot for your sundowner.
