After dark foodie experience in Luang Prabang

The After Dark Foodie tour is perfect for travellers who want to experience Laos food and street life. A local guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you to Luang Prabang’s best food spots. Along the way, you’ll learn why the city is known as the gastronomical capital of Laos with its special mixture of French, Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese cuisine.

The first stop is on the banks of the Mekong, where you’ll try a thin and crispy crepe from an amazing food stall only known to locals. We do most of our food tasting at the Luang Prabang night market though, which is filled with local vendors selling everything from sausages to baguettes and coconut dumplings. Mix with Luang Prabang locals and try some grilled fish or chicken and green papaya salad.

The food is incredibly fresh and guests really enjoy the market atmosphere, the different smells and tempting treats on offer. A highlight of the tour is getting to try the DIY BBQ experience, where you sit around a hotplate and cook your own food. This is a typical Laos experience and a great way to complete your Luang Prabang food tour.

Your journey will start with one of our UK team – someone like Adele, who's travelled extensively in Laos. They’ll shape your ideas into the trip of a lifetime. But they won't do it alone. They'll draw on the expertise of our contacts on the ground, connecting you to the people who'll make your holiday one you'll always remember - the guide who can hone your pétanque skills while playing with the locals, the conservationist who can take you trekking with Asian elephants and the monks who can school you in the craft of Makbeng and Pasaat Pheung making.
