Learn how to cook Vietnamese dishes and visit a typical rural market on this unique Hoi An food tour. One of the things guests love about this excursion is the early-morning trip down the river to Noi Rang Market. You get picked up from your hotel in Hoi An and taken on a traditional sampan boat on the Thu Bon, where we’ll introduce you to river life and tell you about the area’s traditional fishing roots.
Noi Rang Market is one of the oldest in Hoi An and has been around for over 300 years. It’s full of local people rather than tourists and sells all kinds of regional goods and produce. Here, you’ll learn about the market’s history and we’ll pick up ingredients to make our Vietnamese dishes with. The market gives you a glimpse into ancient traditions, with mat weaving and people making noodles and pancakes. You can also try some refreshing sugarcane juice and interact with vendors.
We take a boat ride back to the floating restaurant, where we can cook with beautiful river views. Our chef will teach you how to cook Vietnamese specialities step by step, including green papaya salad, Hoi An pancakes and steamed fish in banana leaves. At the end, you get to eat all of your dishes in the restaurant and receive a certificate and recipe card to take home. A great souvenir from your trip to Vietnam!
Your journey will start with one of our UK team – someone like Pam, who's travelled extensively in Vietnam. They’ll shape your ideas into the trip of a lifetime. But they won't do it alone. They'll draw on the expertise of our contacts on the ground, connecting you to the people who'll make your holiday one you'll always remember – the vespa rider who’ll whizz you round HCMC for a unique foodie tour, the guide who’ll take you fishing with locals at Chuon Lagoon and the ranger who’ll guide you to golden-cheeked gibbons to hear their dawn duets.
