Yoga in the bush at Finch Hattons

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced yogi, you’ll love taking part in classes surrounded by the wild Tsavo scenery…

By Lakshmi Moolraj
Chief Operating Officer at Finch Hattons

Take a break from game drives to enjoy some open-air yoga on our elevated deck overlooking the Chyulu Hills. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced yogi, you’ll love taking part in classes surrounded by the wild Tsavo scenery. We have an on-site instructor who’s been trained by an organisation called the African Yoga Project. They take young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and train them to become yoga teachers, it’s an amazing initiative.

We’ve tried to make Finch Hattons about more than just the Big Five experience and getting up at dawn for game drives. So, we have plenty of spaces in camp where you can relax, from our sunrise viewing tower to the Chyulu Spa, which is the largest bush spa in East Africa. As well as the wooden yoga deck, it has a hammam, infinity pool and two massage pavilions where you can indulge in a treatment. I’d recommend the Maasai Oringa Massage, which incorporates a traditional wooden rungu.

Your journey will start with one of our UK team – someone like Annette, who's travelled extensively in Kenya. They’ll shape your ideas into the trip of a lifetime. But they won't do it alone. They'll draw on the expertise of our contacts on the ground, connecting you to the people who'll make your holiday one you'll always remember - the rangers who'll ensure you'll spot the best wildlife in the Mara, the village chiefs who'll give you a genuine insight into local life and the camp managers who can recommend the very best spot for your sundowner.
